Hi there, In this tutorial you will see all the steps of how we are going to paint this model. If you are painting an army and you want to use this tutorial you can always simplify it by leaving some steps out. Please never leave the head- , face-, and helmet parts out. People always look at the face of miniatures, so make sure those look good. Save time on the smaller details on the belt and lower than the belt. Happy crafting!

Death Guard Weeping Legion

Base coat the whole model with Death Guard Green. The spray of this color is also very good.

Paint all the flat panels with Rakarth Flesh.

Shade the whole model with Athonian Camoshade and after this shade the edges again with the same colour.

Paint all the panels again with Rakarth Flesh. Try to make some slight colour differences.

Highlight the panels with Pallid Wych Flesh.

Base coat the horns and the teeth with Eshin Grey

Shade the horns of the model with Agrax Earthshade.

Make a rough highlight with Eshin Grey from the bottom to the top.


Highlight again with Stormvermin Fur. The paint a smaller highlight with a mix of Stormvermin Fur and Karak Stone. Only paint the top spots. Now highlight the top of the horns by stippling the top spots with Karak stone.

Highlight with a mix of Karak Stone and Screaming Skull by stippling the top spots. The final step is a really fine highlight with Screaming Skull.

Before we can start with the flesh we need to paint the cables that are connected to the flesh. This is a base coat of Leadbelcher shaded with Agrax Earthshade (and if you know me, you know that's my favorite combination).

Base coat the flesh with Khorne Red. Apply 2 thin coats.

Make a mix of 70% Khorne Red and 30% Kislev Flesh. Paint all the flesh except for the deepest parts.

Make another mix of 50% Khorne Red and 50% Kislev Flesh and paint all the flesh in a rough highlight.


Again mix the Khorne Red with Kislev Flesh but this time 30% Khorne Red and 70% Kislev Flesh and paint all the higher parts of the flesh in a rough highlight.


Start highlighting with stippling on all the spots of step 16 with multiple layers of stippling. Use a really wet Kislev Flesh.


Now do step 17 again but with a mix of 50% Kislev Flesh and 50% Screaming Skull.


Shade the flesh with Druchii Violet and randomly leave some parts free of shade.

Base coat the chainmail with Balor Brown.

Make a gradient from Balor Brown to Abaddon Black. You do this by adding black to your brown. Stop when the mix is 20% black and 80% brown. Make sure the colour blends in nicely on the miniature paint with a 50% black and 50% brown mix and use multiple layers.

For the last step you dry brush the chainmail with metallics. I use Leadbelcher and then with Ironbreaker.

Paint the whole knife with Typhus Corrosion except for the sharpest edges.

Drybrush the whole knife with Balor Brown.


Create some flat spots with Leadbelcher.


The last step is a bit tricky. You need to glaze the flat parts of the knife with Agrax Earthshade and the sharp edges with Athonian Camoshade.


Now base coat the wood with Dryad Bark, the gun parts with Leadbelcher, The bullets with Balthasar Gold and the rope with Rakarth Flesh.

Shade the whole gun except for the rope with Nuln Oil and shade the rope with Agrax Earthshade.

Highlight the wood with Dryad Bark, the silver with Leadbelcher, the black with Eshin Grey, the bullets with Balthasar Gold and the rope with Pallid Wych Flesh.


Make some fine highlights with a mix of Dryad Bark (50%) and Karak Stone (50%) on the wood. Fine Highlight the black with Dawnstone and make dots on all the sharp edges with Administratum Grey. Highlight the silver with Ironbreaker and use the same colour of paint on the nails. After this highlight the bullets with Hashut Copper.

Start with a layer of texture paint (Agrellan Earth).

Dry brush the base with Khorne Red and then dry brush the base with Evil Sunz Scarlet.

Dry brush the base with Wild Rider Red but make sure the brush is really dry. After this fine dry brush with Lugganath Orange.

Scratch away some of the texture paint to make space for the glue and for the tuft.


Glue on the tuft and paint the edge of the base with Abaddon Black.


Base coat the skulls on the shoulder pad, the backpack and the nade with Karak Stone and then shade them with Agrax Earthshade. Now highlight with Karak Stone and fine highlight with Screaming Skull.


The tongue is painted in the flesh colours. Go check out the flesh part from step 13. The eyes should already be green from the armor shading. Paint them with Moot Green.

Paint the flesh on the grenade with Ungor Flesh and shade with Biel-Tan Green. Now highlight with Ungor Flesh and fine highlight with a mix of Ungor (50%) and Screaming Skull (50%).
