Hi there,The Primaris Space Wolf is done and I&#39;m really happy with the result. As a kid I always loved Space Wolfs but didn&#39;t understand how they looked so blue and grey at the same time. Tried it many times but the always look just grey. Now 20 years in I&#39;m finally very happy with this piece end result.Good Luck and Happy Crafting.

Primaris Space Wolf

So Space Wolf\`s don\`t have any Angels of Death symbols on them. So to start you need to remove this symbol from the chest. This can be easily done with a modelling knife and a file. Then it looks really cool to add some Space Wolf bits. If edit a wolf tale on the helmet, a big scout knife and also going to at a crystal on the chest.




I like to paint the head and the shoulder pads apart. You can do the same with the backpack.




Paint a base coat of Mechanicus Standard Grey. Then paint the whole armor with Russ Grey. two or three thin coats.

Paint a shade in all the chinks of the armor with Drakenhof Nightshade. When you hit the armor panels with the shade just let it dry and paint it again with Russ grey. I painted all the panels again because it will look better.

Highlight all the edges of the armor with Fenrisian Grey.

Highlight all the edges of the armor but only the top 50% with Blue Horror.

Paint a dot highlight with a 50/50 mix of Blue Horror and Pallid Wych Flesh. Paint this on all the tips and sharp corners of the armor.

Base coat the rubber (between the armor) with Eshin Grey. Then all the pockets Rhinox Hide. Paint the knife, the bolters, the grids, the relic and the belt Abaddon Black.

Shade the rubber with Contrast Black Templar.

Highlight 80% of the lines with Dawnstone.

Paint small stripes on the pockets with a 50/50 mix of Rhinox Hide and Karak Stone.

Paint small stripes on the pockets with Karak Stone and focus the colour more on the corners.




Paint the relic, the boltpistol (so not the bolter) and the the grids with Leadbelcher. Now shade the pockets and the grids on the backpack with Agrax Earthshade (so not the pistol and the relic.)

Block in the following colours. The panels of the Boltgun Khorne Red, all the Iron parts Leadbelcher, the hand grip Eshin Grey and the bullets Balthasar Gold.

Shade the whole gun except for the red with Nuln Oil.

Highlight the iron first with Ironbreaker and then a fine highlight of Runefang Steel.

Highlight the hand grip with Dawnstone and a dot highlight with Administratum Grey.




Highlight the red panels with Evil Sunz Scarlet and a dot highlight Wild Rider Red. Then paint the nails with Ironbreaker.

Paint the symbol the same way as the grip.


Highlight the bullets with Sycorax Bronze and a fine highlight with Gehenna\`s Gold.

Base coat the fur with Mechanical Standard Grey.




Layer the fur with Screaming Skull, 2 thin coats.

Paint 60% of the top of the fur with Karak Stone.


Paint the top 30% of the fur with Steel Legion Drab.

Paint the top 10% of the fur with Dryad Bark.

Shade the fur with Agrax Earthshade. Thin it down with a little bit of water. Just a little.




Drybrush all of the fur with Screaming Skull. Make sure your brush is really dry. It only needs to hit the top of the top of the fur.




Base coat the lenses with Khorne red and the tubes with Leadbelcher.


Shade the lenses with Nuln Oil. Highlight the tubes with Ironbreaker and a fine highlight with Runefang Steel.


We are going to paint a gradient from the back to the front of the lenses. Keeping the back dark and the front light. Paint 75% of the lenses with Wazdakka Red. Then paint 50% of the lenses with Evil Sunz Scarlet.

Paint 25% of the lenses with Evil Sunz Scarlet. Then paint 10% of the lenses with Troll Slayer Orange.

Paint 5% of the lenses with Yriel Yellow.

Paint a white dot in the dark area of the lens with White Scar.

Base Coat the knife model with Abaddon Black. Base Coat the knife with Leadbelcher.


Make a gradient in opposites directions with Contrast Gryph-Charger Grey. You paint multiple layers making the colour darker to the end.

Make the contrast on the gradient even bigger with Contrast Black Templar.


Now paint a gradient with Ironbreaker on the not shaded parts. Also paint over the shade with a very wet mix of 20% paint and 80% water.


Highlight the knife with Runefang Steel.


Edge highlight the knife with a 50/50 mix of Runefang Steel and White Scar.


Base coat the panel on the backpack with Mournfang Brown.

Highlight the panel with Yriel Yellow.




Cut out the transfers you want, I use my Fire Angels transfers as a example. Use scissors or a modeling knife.


Clean the area where you going to stick the transfer with Micro Set. You can buy this ad most hobby shops or just online.


Put the transfer on your mini with your brush. Make sure your brush is wet. When the transfer is dry it probably still looks pretty bad. So the first thing to do here, put a layer of Microset over the transfer, wait a few minutes and push the transfer with a tissue on the surface.




Repeat step 7 until your happy and that means that the transfer should look nice and smooth. Now the transfer will still be shiny and to remove this we paint the whole surface with Lahmian Medium. I like to do this twice.

To make the Primaris look cooler I glued a crystal on his chest. I filled some gaps with greenstuff.




Base coat the Crystal Abaddon Black. The relic should already be Abaddon Black with Leadbelcher.




Base Coat bones in the relic with Karak Stone. Base coat the crystal with Khorne Red and the edges with Leadbelcher. Then shade bought details with Agrax Earthshade.




Highlight the silver with Ironbreaker. Highlight the bones with Karak Stone and fine highlight Screaming Skull. Highlight the Crystal with Wazdakka Red, a finer highlight with Evil Sunz Scarlet. Repeat this process highlighting less and a smaller line with Wild Rider Red, Troll Slayer Orange and Yriel Yellow.




Paint the edges of the shoulder pads in the same colour as the armor. Mechanicus Standard Grey base, Russ Grey, Fenrisian Grey highlight and fine highlight with Blue Horror.




Paint the inner panel of the shoulder pads with Mournfang Brown. Shade the edges with Agrax Earthshade.




Paint the inner panel of the shoulder pads with Zamesi Desert. Make a 50/50 mix of Zamesi Desert and Yriel yellow and glaze the center of the shoulder pad.




Draw the teeth symbols on the the shoulder pad with mechanical pencil.




Sharpen the teeth with Wazdakka Red and Yreil Yellow.

After it dried glue some small rocks on the base.




Dry brush the base with Steel Legion Drab and a fine dry brush with Karak Stone.




Go outside and get some small twigs and stuff.


Glue the small twigs and leaves on the base.


Mix PVA glue with Zamesi Desert and paint it random on the base. Some extra glue on the highest parts. Then dip it in snow flakes powder (any brand will do).




In step 7 we created the illusion of wet snow and now we put some fresh snow on top with Valhallan Blizzard.

The effect can be seen best form the side. Paint the edge of the base with Dryad Bark.
