Hi there, A lot and I`m a lot of people ask me about how I paint my Fire Angel Space Marines. The truth is that the techniques I use are very easy. The hole idea of the army is that I can paint it fast but looks good on the table top. There is a lot of thought in the colours that`s the main reason why the look great, it`s not the techniques. Iron Templar

Base Coat the hole model with Abaddon Black. Base Coat the power armor Leadbelcher.

Shade the power armor with Agrax Earthshade. I see a lot of people make mistakes with shading. Don\`t put to much on the model! You really need to paint it on panel by panel and it needs to look good strait away. So don\`t wait until it dries but watch the drying process and remove overloads on paints.

Highlight the power armor with a Leadbelcher.


Make a fine highlight on the power armor with a Ironbreaker.

Highlight the highest parts of the armor with Runefang Steel.

Repaint all the details with Abaddon black. Clean up your highlight mistakes with Agrax Earthshade.


Base coat all the leather pouches Rhinox Hide and the bible Balor Brown.

Highlight the the leather pouches with a mix of Rhinox Hide and Karak Stone 50/50. Highlight the the bible with a mix of Balor Brown and Karak Stone 50/50

Paint some scratch damage on the leather with the same 50/50 mix.




Highlight the leather pouches and the bible with Karak Stone. Paint all the Iron details with Leadbelcher on the weapons with.


Shade the leather pouches and the bible Agrax Earthshade. Paint the iron details with Ironbreaker and the paper of the bible with Karak Stone and highlight with White Scar that's watered down. Then paint all the Rubber with Eshin Grey and shade it with Nuln Oil.

Highlight the rubber with Eshin Grey and make a finer highlight with Dawnstone.

Highlight the belt with Eshin Grey and make a finer highlight with Dawnstone.


Base coat the symbols with Mechanicus Standard Grey.

Highlight the symbols with Mechanicus Standard Grey.


Highlight with Dawnstone. But only paint 70% the edges.


Highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh. But only paint 20% the edges.

Shade the metal with Nuln Oil. Then paint the grip with Mechanicus Standard Grey.


Shade the grip with a 33/66 mix of Contrast Black Templar and Medium.

Highlight the black plates and the grip with Mechanicus Standard Grey.


Shade the deepest parts of the grip with Nuln Oil. Then highlight the black plates and the grip with Dawnstone, but don\`t highlight everything just 70%. Leaving the middel parts and painting the corners of the plates.




Highlight the black plates and the grip with Administratum Grey, but don't highlight everything just 30%. Leaving most of the middle parts and painting only the corners of the plates.

Highlight al the metal with Leadbelcher and paint the wire with Khorne Red and Averland Sunset.

Highlight al the metal with Iron Breaker and check out the left screw, I made a big mistake! Highlight the wire with Evil Sunz Scarlet and Yriel Yellow.

Highlight the wire with Troll Slayer Orange and Dorn Yellow, only in the center parts. Paint away all the mistakes with Abaddon Black.

So the backpack shoot look this picture. If it doesn't check out the previous steps.




Base coat the plate on the back pack with Mechanicus Standard Grey. Then paint a red line in the center with Khorne Red.




Shade the plate with Agrax Earthshade.




Paint the plate with Karak Stone and Khorne Red. But try to paint a gradient with darker spots on the bottom of the plate.




Again we are going to make a gradient on the to colours. Paint the white with Pallid Wych Flesh and the red with Evil Sunz Scarlet.


Highlight the gradient for the red with Troll Slayer Orange and the white with White Scar.




(Please note that on step 54 there is a better example on how to use transfers). Clean the area where you going to stick the transfer with Micro Set. You can buy this ad most hobby shops or just online. Put the transfer in a small puddle of water. After about 5 min check with your brush if the transfer is loose. Put the transfer on your mini with your brush. Make sure your brush is wet.




When the transfer is dry it probably still looks pretty bad. So now we go to the good part how to make them looks good. So the first thing to do here, put a layer of Microset over the transfer, wait a few minutes and push the transfer with a tissue on the surface. Repeat this until your happy and that means that the transfer should look nice and smooth. Now the transfer will still be shiny and to remove this we paint the whole surface with Lahmian Medium. I like to do this twice.




Base coat the mouth mask and the tubes with Mechanicus Standard Grey. Paint a red line over the head with Khorne Red, also paint the left knee with this colour.




Base coat the the mouth mask Stormvermin Fur. Paint the tubes with Averland Sunset.

Shade the hole helmet with Agrax Earthshade.




Paint the mouth mask with Karak Stone but don\`t paint the darkest parts. The same for the tubes but with Yriel Yellow. Then paint the red with Wazdakka Red and don't forget the left knee.

Highlight the mouth mask with a 50/50 mix of Krakak Stone and White Scar. Then make a fine highlight with White Scar. Paint a gradient with Evil Sunz Scarlet on the red, same goes again for the knee. Then paint a highlight with Wild Rider Red on all the red.

Base coat the eyes with Kantor Blue. Paint a gradient with Thunderhawk Blue covering 70% of the lenses. Then paint a gradient with Temple Guard Blue covering 50% of the lenses.

Paint a gradient with Baharroth Blue covering 30% of the lenses. The make a really small gradient with Blue Horror. Highlight the tubes with Flash Gitz Yellow.

Paint to dots with White Scar in the dark area of the lenses.




Clean up your mistakes, I had some yellow on the neck protection.




Base coat the shoulder pads with Mechanicus Standard Grey.




Base coat the edges of the pads with Khorne Red and the center plate fist with with Stormvermin Fur and then with Karak Stone, make sure you do two ore three thin coats.




Shade the edges with Agrax Earthshade.




Highlight the edges with Wazdakka Red and paint 70% of the center top and bottom with Wazdakka Red. Then highlight the edges with Evil Sunz Scarlet and paint 50% of the center top and bottom with Evil Sunz Scarlet.




Highlight the edges with Wild Rider Red and paint 10% of the center top and bottom with Wazdakka Wild Rider Red.




Highlight the corner of the edge with Lugganath Orange. This will make a nice contrast.

Base coat the plate of the shoulder pad with Karak Stone.


Make a gradient with a 90/10 mix of White Scar and Karak Stone. To do this you need to paint with very wet paint 50% water or even more. Start with one layer over the whole plate except 10% of the edge. Then a second layer that's 20% away from the edges and then a third with 30%.




Keep repeating step 52 until you are happy. I like to do 5 layers or so. But 2 or 3 can already look really good.




Cut out the transfers. Use scissors or a modeling knife.




Make cuts in the transfer so they smooth out more easily.


Clean the area where you going to stick the transfer with Micro Set. You can buy this at most hobby shops or just online.

Put the transfer on your mini with your brush. Make sure your brush is wet.

So this detail is so small that I decided to show you what I did with a drawing. I used these colours for the gradient, Caliban Green, Warpstone Glow, Skarsnik Green and Yriel Yellow.

So again I show you how I did this step with a drawing, only I did it up side down. I used these colours, Thunderhawk Blue, Temple Guard Blue, Baharroth Blue, Blue Horror and White Scar. Same colours as the eyes so this paint should still be on your palette.




Glue some small stones on the base. I also glued a skull on there.


Make a mix of talcum powder, find sand and PVE glue. Make some random piles on the base and strike them on the stones.

Then paint the stones with Eshin Grey. Hightlight the stone with Stormvermin Fur and then make a fine highlight with Karak Stone. Paint the skull with Karak Stone.




Shade the whole base with Agrax Earthshade. Highlight the skull with Krakak Stone and a fine highlight with Screaming Skull.

Mix Pigment Binder with Grange Rust from forgeworld. Mix it until it's as thin as paint.




Paint this all over the base and also in the edges of the stones. Then paint this in all the edges on the boots and ankle. Paint the edge of the base with Abaddon Black
