Winter is coming so let’s make some ice bases.

Easy Ice base

Get you base or bases and put on some pva glue with sand or my go to product Vallejo ground texture.

For the sand and glue make sure it’s not flat but has some texture to it like little waves.


Put some technical paint from any brand or color. ( cracked earth )

Make sure it’s nice and thick for big cracks in the ice!!  



Citadel Technical Mordant Earth

Before you continue make sure everything is nice and dry.  
If your not happy with the results you can always remove it with a hobby knife and start over.

  



Prime the base white if possible. Including the rim of the base!!!  
  
Other colors also work but it will be easier this way.

  



Citadel Corax White

Heavy dry brush a light blue. Be careful with the ice chips. They might come lose if your press to hard. I used AK deep sky also on the base rim.

  



AK interactive Deep Sky Blue AK11176

Light dry brush a lighter blue over the ice parts. I used AK pastel blue or mix white with the light blue for a light tone.

  



AK interactive Pastel Blue Pastel AK11168

Dry brush a heavy white on the ground texture for snow effect. Also dry brush the rim for a more universal icy look. I used Vallejo White.

  



Vallejo Model Color White

Optional: add some snow effect on your mini or base for next lvl effect. I used AK diorama snow but you can also use Valhallan Blizzard.
