Hi there, This next tutorials will be me painting the shield of the Indomitus Captain. It`s a lot of work so many steps that will not always be that fun to watch but very important. Good luck and happy crafting.

Captain Shield

Base coat the shield with Abaddon Black and Ironbreaker. Then base coat main part of the shield with Khorne Red. Base coat the purity seal with Balor Brown and the the skeleton with Rhinox Hide. Then base coat the skill with Karak Stone

Shade the whole shield with Agrax Earthshade.

Paint 75% of the red part with Mephiston Red.

Paint 50% of the red part with the panel with wet Evil Sunz Scarlet.

Paint 25% of the top of the red parts with wet Wild Rider Red.

Then highlight the panel of the shield with Wild Rider Red.




Paint a fine highlight with Troll Slayer Orange.

The gold has a base coat of Balthasar Gold. I created some shade in the gold with Nuln Oil. Then I wanted to make a glow effect and started to "shade" a guideline with Nihilakh Oxide.

First I made the darkest parts of the light effect with Incubi Darkness. Then a inner parts with Thunderhawk Blue.

Then I painted the inner parts again with Sotek Green followed up by Blue Horror. In the eyes of the skull I also painted a really small dot with White Scar.

Now it time for the skeleton. We already painted the base with Rhinox hide, Krak Stone and a Agrax shade. The first thing to do here is to paint a rough highlight with Karak Stone.




Then I highlight all the bones with Screaming Skull.

The a fine highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh. Skipping most parts.

The gold already has a basecoat of Balthasar Gold and is shades with Nuln Oil. So the first thing to do here is to paint more contrast with Balthasar Gold on the lighter parts. Then the smaller layer with Gehenna\`s Gold creating a gradient.




Hightlight the gold with Runefang Steel. Paint the sand in the hourglass with Baneblade Brown, highlight with Karak Stone and some dots with Screaming Skull.

Paint the scrolls and purity seals with Rakarth Flesh. (There base color is Rhinox Hide). Paint multiple wet layers.

Paint some red symbols with Evil Sunz Scarlet. The right the letters with fineliner size 0.05.




Shade the scrolls with Reikland Fleshshade. Basecoat the seals with The Fang and shade them with Drakenhof Nightshade..

Highlight the purity seals and scrolls with Reikland Fleshshade and a fine highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh. Highlight the seals with The Fang and a fine highlight with Fenrisian Grey. The paint all the scrolls and seals with Lahmian medium.
