<p>Hi there,<br><br>In 2021`s #Orktober challenge on my Discord I painted this blue Ork for my brother. He wanted bleu skin Orks. I thought that this would also be a cool tutorial.</p>

Blue Ork 40k

Citadel Abaddon Black

Paint the skin with Incubi Darkness, 2 thin coats.


Citadel Incubi Darkness

Make a 1:1 mix of Incubi Darkness and Sotek Green. Paint almost all the skin with this color. Only leave the parts you want shade.


Citadel Sotek Green

Again we paint most of the skin but now we paint about 75% of the skin with Sotek Green. Use wet paint so you can paint gradients on the skin.


Make a 2:1 mix of Sotek Green and Screaming Skull. Paint about 50% of the skin. Again use wet paint so you can paint gradients on the skin.

Make a 1:1 mix of Sotek Green and Screaming Skull. Now we paint a rough highlight on the skin. After that we do a highlight with very wet Screaming Skull.




Paint the ears the mouth and the flesh around the claw with Mephiston Red. Paint the teeth with Rhinox Hide.

Highlight the inside of the ears, the lips and the flesh with Kislev Flesh. Highlight the teeth with Karak Stone and Screaming Skull. Paint the eyes with Mephiston Red, Evil Sunz Scarlet and the dot of Yriel Yellow.

Base coat the clothes with Mephiston Red.


Make a 1:1 mix of Eshin Grey and Incubi Darkness. Paint big camo patterns on the clothes.

Paint black smaller camo patterns with Abaddon Black and connect the grey patterns with the black.


Make a 1:1 mix of White Scar and Blue Horror. Paint small camo patterns on the clothes.

Shade the wrinkles with Agrax Earthshade and highlight them and the edges with Evil Sunz Scarlet. Then paint 2 coats of Lahmian Medium.

I left out the cable part so I could paint more easily, now I glued it on.


I painted all the metal parts with Leadbelcher and the copper with Balthasar Gold.

I painted the symbols with Corax White, some of the metal with Deathworld Forest and the patches on the gun with Karak stone.

I base all the colors of step 16 with Agrax Earthshade.


I highlighted the white part with Corax White en the patches on the gun with Ushabti Bone.

Paint the backpack leather with Rhinox Hide and the straps with Mournfang Brown.


Make a 1:1 mix with Rhinox hide and Karak Stone and highlight the backpack. Make a 1:1 mix with Mournfang Brown and Karak Stone and highlight the straps.

Shade the whole backpack with Agrax Earthshade.


Paint the buttons of the radar with Averland Sunset, Mephiston Red and Macragge Blue. Paint the screen with Incubi Darkness.

Paint a gradient with Thunderhawk bleu with to focus on the right corner and all the edges.

Highlight the Screen with Sotek Green and temple Guard bleu.

Highlight the buttons by adding white to the base colors or any lighter color will do.




Paint the stripes on the power claw with Mechanicus Standard Grey.

Paint the stripes with Mournfang Brown.




Rough glaze the brown with Averland Sunset.

Highlight the yellow with Yriel Yellow and the black with Dawnstone.

Paint the base with Corrosion Texture from AK.

Drybrush the stone with Dawnstone and paint the base with Corvus Black.

Mix them together with a old brush. Use a pipette with Thinner and ad a couple of drops on the pigment.




Use a old brush and remove the top layer of the pigment. This way you will see the dark grey and creates the contrast.
